Could have been WAY worse than $490 fine so to the extent these cameras get people to pay attention to what they're doing behind the wheel, I'm not opposed to them. And then there's all the people that intentionally try and run red lights which I just don't understand. Maybe they're familiar with the area and know there aren't any cameras is they only thing I'd figure. There's so many of them that I can't imagine that's how they normally drive in an unknown area. I'm definitely in favor there as the expensive tickets would seem very effective at altering the driving style of those who do intentionally run lights regularly. Perhaps it doesn't stop it entirely as they know where ther cameras are in the areas they drive on a daily basis but at the very least I imagine it reduced it somewhat. Personally, committing to memory and then actually remembering which lights I should deliberately run or not run is way too much effort to be worthwhile for me so I just don't make a habit of deliberately running any lights.
