All concealed handgun permit applications are accepted online only.

Effective July 1, 2025, all renewal and new CHP applicants must have a certificate from a verified instructor to proceed with your application. Applications for which applicants have not submitted fingerprints by July 1, 2025, are NOT COMPLETE and are subject to the new legal requirements. Out-of-state training certificates will NOT be accepted.

Applications for concealed handgun permits are accepted Monday through Friday (except county holidays), 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Records Unit.

Incomplete packets will not be accepted

Applicants must be 21 years of age at the time of application

A copy of your original training certificate is required at the time of application
