Travel Experiences Horizon structurally slashes fares in Pacific Northwest2 min read
Jerry Chandler
In the Pacific Northwest, distances can be daunting, and the geography less than conducive to quick car trips. That’s why airlines are so critical, especially to folks in smaller communities. The area’s premier regional carrier is Horizon Air, and now there’s word it is structurally lowering fares on a number of routes. This is significant news for folks who’ve got to fly. Horizon is cutting airfares for a whole range of tickets: last-minute walk-ups (always the priciest), seven-day advance purchase, and 14-day advance purchase. One of the reasons Horizon says it can indulge in this sort of rate cutting is the airplanes it flies. The carrier increasingly uses fuel-efficient Q400 propjets. They’re twice as large as the Q200s they replace. That renders them more fuel-efficient per passenger flown. All Horizon airfares can be purchased one-way, or round-trip. There are no minimum-stay requirements. Here are the new one-way rates the regional airline has put into effect: – From Seattle/Tacoma (SEA) to Yakima (YKM) and Wenatchee, Washington (the airport code here is EAT. Really): 14-day, $49; 7-day, $59; Walk-up, $79. – From Seattle/Tacoma to Victoria, BC (YYJ): 14-day, $59; 7-day, $70/$91; Walk-up, $113; – From Seattle/Tacoma to Pasco (PSC) and Walla Walla, Washington (ALW): 14-day, $69; 7-day, $89; Walk-up, $99. – From Portland, OR (PDX) to Pasco, Washington and Pendleton, OR (PDT): 14-day, $69; 7-day $89; Walk-up, $99. – From Boise (BOI) to Idaho Falls, Idaho (IDA): 14-day, $69; 7-day, 89; Walk-up, $99. – From Seattle/Tacoma to Kelowna, BC (YLW): 14-day, $91; 7-day $113; Walk-up $145; -From Seattle/Tacoma to Kalispell (FCA) and Missoula, Montana (MSO): 14-day, $109; 7-day, $129; Walk-up, $159. – From Seattle/Tacoma to Bozeman (BZN) and Butte, Montana (BTM): 14-day, $139; 7-day, $159; Walk-up, $189. © Cheapflights Ltd Jerry Chandler
