The reunion committee officers don't change that often.
Quote: Plenty of organizations have small membership accounts, and do/use them everyday. Shouldnt be that much of a problem.Maybe look into a regional bank instead of a local crefit union. Or national bank. Search till you find one that doesnt have a problem with low balance accounts. -- I'll ask using the specific words "small membership account" and see what they say. -- No national OR regional bank that I have experience with so far has small account balance accounts that do NOT charge a monthly fee. (They all want direct deposit, 2 deposits a month, larger balances, etc).
Quote: You do not want everybody getting into the account.Of course not. We have a treasurer. And just for the sake of common sense one other person should be able to get access to the account also.
Quote: This is true at my regional bank, if one party is 50 or older ( may vary depending) the account is "free",Thanks! Will look into that also. Although with the younger generation becoming officers and getting involved in the planning, I doubt even one of the officers will be over 50. BUT, if I find an institution that has that "over 50" offering, I can certainly present that perhaps a former officer (who's not toooo told As I said, I'm an old fart, and don't have an online bank myself. BUT, I'll suggest that to the officers and at the the open reunion event. Maybe the younger folks would have no problem. We just want easy access, not much complication, for a small balance account, that more than one person can access....when each of those people are in different states....and when the names of the people could change from year to year. AND.... It may not be a big deal to some but so far one catch has been.... -- Banks won't pay interest on small amount checking accounts -- BUT they'll charge you a monthly service for having the account. -- Credit unions won't charge fees for small accounts (that's good), but technically ANY interest earned means the reunion officer would have to pay taxes on that interest. A small amount to be sure, but still something. And of course, they could take the money for that out of the account to cover that, but still...... I wouldn't call it a "complication" exactly, just an issue to be noted. Thanks, all. Keep the suggestions coming. (责任编辑:) |
