Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are one of the popular couples in the movie industry, having been together for almost four decades. The duo tied the knot on September 4, 1988, almost 18 months after their initial meeting during the production of PBS’s adaptation of Lanford Wilson’s 1970 play, Lemon Sky. While the couple have both achieved outstanding fame in their career, they have always maintained a high level of privacy, especially when it comes to their two kids.

In a recent interview, Bacon shared some of his parenting tips and how he and his wife kept their children away from the glitz and glamor of Hollywood during their childhood.

In an exclusive video for Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meals episode set to air on Thursday, April 3, the actor revealed how he and his wife made conscious efforts to shield their children from the potential pitfalls of growing up in the spotlight.

During his conversation with host Josh Scherer, Bacon explained that instead of taking them to red carpet events, forcing them to watch his films, or drawing their attention to media coverage about him, the couple chose to maintain a sense of normalcy for their family, thereby preserving their kid’s innocence.

The Footloose star acknowledged that while he decided to take up an acting career and worked hard to achieve fame, it was only for him as his kids never signed up for that type of life when they were born.

Bacon revealed that despite making the choice which he believed was best for them, he understood that growing up with two celebrities as parent could not have been easy for them. He explained that he often encourages his children, who have now taken up careers in the entertainment, to express their feelings, even joking about them venting to their therapists, as they have till now refused to admit that their upbringing posed any difficulties.
