Do insurance companies WANT you to leave them for a competitor?
Does there come a point where they don't WANT long time insureds to leave and go elsewhere?
How is it that a company I've been with for 20 years can't (won't?)) do what it takes to keep me?
Is $50 less a year worth switching three policies for?
I've been with Travelers for more than 20 years. AND have three policies with them:
1) car (one owner/driver) only 1.5 mile commute to work, so maybe put 3K miles a year on my car
2) homeowners
3) umbrella policy
Excellent driving record. No accidents OR tickets last 10 years.
So I called NJM (New Jersey Manufacturers) and got a car insurance quote of $1,410 a year if paid in full, 1428, if I do 10 months of installments. MORE coverage than my current Travelers policy.
I called Travelers and was told THE best the could do is what I have -- ALL discounts -- for a premium of $956 for six months, $1,912.
Meanwhile, my brother who lives across the street, so same zip code --AND he puts more miles on his newer mini-van -- has to insure FOUR people for his car: including one, with a VERY bad record, and two kids over 18 who don't have licenses but are at his address.
HE switched from Gieco and saved 6K a year with NJM! (SO I just knew my rate would go down to next to nothing. But au contraire my City Data friends......
ME -- my NJM quote (for more coverage) is only $500 less a year. That's only about $41 a month.
What the heck? Forgive me, but that's chicken feed. OK, maybe not. But, certainly no great savings.
I called Travelers and they can't match NJM.
(NJM's quote for the homeowners was $100.00 more a year (for 60K more in coverage, though)
(The umbrella policy was $30.00 more a year.)
So does this show what "good" rates I really am getting with Travelers? -- OR am I a sucker for staying with Travelers? I really don't want to switch is $50 less a year worth switching three policies for? (责任编辑:)
