ONTD and Amber Heard

Groupthink is back in full force over there. Trial recap posts by user thirteenarrows invariably include “I’m just so exhausted, my work never ends” and “Believe survivors” (but not if they’re male). Comments are an enormous echo chamber and now anyone not marching in lockstep is reported and kicked out of the community. Really weird shit.

The anti Amber campaign is funded. On Twitter a cyber company outed that it is a combination of bot driven accounts with managed accounts by human trolls. A lot have promoted linked to their tweets. This means the account has paid twitter to be promoted. There are also paid articles promoted in mainstream media. The Daily Heil allegedly is a good example. One of Depps team Adam has alleged direct links to Russian troll farms. Google it. He is quite notorious.

Give me a freaking break, whoever is running this PR campaign isn’t the brightest crayon in the box. I go on YouTube and suddenly get 100 videos about how great Depp is even though I’ve never watched a video about him. You go on Reddit and unrelated threads have Johnny suppress on it. Twitter? Hundreds of thousands of Depp fans popping up out of a sudden.

Really? If he has so many “fans” then why have his movies been tanking on the past 10 years? This shit has Adam Waldman written all over it. They just don’t know how to be subtle trolls.

Amber will be just fine. She has an ElonMuskBaby and will be paid accordingly (I imagine at least $100,000/month, if not more).

R8, I am OP and R5. I don't know how objecting to cult-like groupthink and outright censorship of wrongthink as "abuse" = my not caring about victims. Both sides are guilty of this, but what's going on ONTD is bothering me because if I expressed any skepticism about Heard's account--skepticism that is rational given what we know--I would get banned. That's insane. Btw, I think Depp was abusive, so I don't think he should win the case. I also think Heard may have been abusive, and not always in self-defense. I'm no Depp looney.

I went out to ONTD and I'm seeing people who say they don't believe Amber will win, and they're not banned. Do you have any evidence that people are getting banned for non-bannable comments? Banned just for their opinion?

I appreciate their posts about the trial but I can’t stand ONTD. It’s pure misery over there. They view themselves as having a moral high ground compared to the rest of the internet which is a joke.

R20 I did, and every post I saw that talked about reporting people said they were reporting abusive stuff. Never once saw a comment about people reporting tweets that they simply disagreed with.
