Veterinary oncologists can treat common tumors including lymphoma, bone tumors, hemangiosarcoma, mammary tumors, bladder tumors, and skin tumors.  They can also treat uncommon tumors in many ways, often using a network of other oncologists.

We will sit down with you and your pet after reviewing your pet's medical history and diagnosis to discuss the disease, staging (additional diagnostics), treatment options, and prognosis.

The board-certified veterinary specialists on our oncology team have completed extensive training (how cancer develops and how to treat it) after graduating from veterinary school. The American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine requires an internship and specific residency, as well as comprehensive exams and publication requirements, to become board-certified.

Staging (Additional Diagnostics)

After a cancer diagnosis, additional diagnostic testing can help to determine the extent of cancer in the body, which allows us to enhance treatment options and better predict prognosis.

At Veterinary Referral Associates, we offer in-house, state-of-the-art MRI services for the most accurate diagnosis and treatment possible. 

When staging is complete, our specialists will discuss all the appropriate treatment options. Cancer can be treated by several different therapies or combinations of treatments including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, or palliative care when appropriate.
