Friends of the Family's Homeless Housing Assistance programs provide individual plans and rental assistance to prevent homelessness.

One of our key missions at Friends of the Family is providing assistance that help individuals overcome barriers to maintaining stable housing. Our housing assistance programs provides rental assistance, case management and advocacy to qualified individual.

Housing Assistance Programs Include:

Supportive Housing & Turning Point Rural Housing Programs

A rental assistance and case management program for residents of Allamakee, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek Counties.  

Program requirements

Participants must be living in a shelter, on the streets, or fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking.

Create and follow an individual case plan

Meet a caseworker for in-home visits to work on identifying needs and barriers to maintaining permanent housing including budgeting and life skill development

Work toward self-sufficiency

**Permanent Supportive Housing - must have a documented disability & chronic homeless status**

Rapid Housing Initiative of North Iowa

This program provides rental assistance for individuals experiencing homelessness for residents of Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Franklin, Mitchell and Worth Counties.

Program Requirements

Participants must be living in a shelter, on the streets, or fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking.

Create and follow an individual case plan

Meet a caseworker for in-home visits to work on identifying needs and barriers to maintaining permanent housing including budgeting and life skill development

Work toward self-sufficiency

Always Home

A rental assistance and case management program for residents of Cerro Gordo County. 

Program Requirements

Participants must be living in a shelter, on the streets, or fleeing domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking.

Participants must have a documented disability that impairs their ability to be self-sufficient and be experiencing chronic homelessness.

Create and follow an individual case plan

Meet a caseworker for in-home visits to work on identifying needs and barriers to maintaining permanent housing including budgeting and life skill development

Work toward self-sufficiency

ESG Programming 

The program provides housing assistance to those who are experiencing literal homelessness for residents of Allamakee, Bremer, Black Hawk, Buchanan, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Hancock, Howard, Kossuth, Mitchell, Winnebago, Winneshiek, and Worth Counties.

Program requirements:

Participants must lack a fixed, regular, & adequate nighttime residence or be facing imminent loss of their primary residence.

Create and follow an individual case plan

Meet a caseworker for in-home visits to work on identifying needs and barriers to maintaining permanent housing including budgeting and life skill development

Work toward self-sufficiency

ERA Housing Program

The program provides housing assistance to those who are experiencing literal homelessness for residents of Allamakee, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Cerro Gordo, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Floyd, Franklin, Hancock, Howard, Kossuth, Mitchell, Winnebago, Winneshiek,  and Worth Counties.

Program requirements:

Participants must lack a fixed, regular, & adequate nighttime residence or be facing imminent loss of their primary residence.

Cedar Valley Permanent Supportive Housing Project

The program provides housing assistance to those who are experiencing literal homelessness for residents of Black Hawk County. 

Program requirements:

Participants must lack a fixed, regular, & adequate nighttime residence.

Meet a caseworker for in-home visits to work on identifying needs and barriers to maintaining permanent housing including budgeting and life skill development

Work toward self-sufficiency
