You might think changing the clocks twice yearly creates more daylight—after all, it’s called Daylight Saving Time. But in reality, the total amount of daylight doesn’t change, no matter how much we spring forward and fall back. Only the distribution of daylight hours is shifted. Rather than saving daylight, the measure was initially introduced to save energy by making better use of daylight. In that sense, Energy Saving Time might have been a more accurate name. (责任编辑:) |
