Meet Our Principal, Marcelo Huizar

Mr. Huizar grew up in Lemoore, CA where he attended the local schools and graduated from Lemoore HS. He went on to attend Fresno State University where he received both his BA and his teaching credential. Mr. Huizar started his career as a classroom teacher and served in that capacity for 10 years. He taught second grade, fifth grade and was also an EL resource teacher during that time span.  In 2010, Mr. Huizar joined Migrant Education Region 8 and he served in the role of Resource Coordinator and as an Area Administrator. Over the next five years he was employed at Corcoran Unified as vice principal at John Muir MS. In 2022, he joined SLCUSD and has proudly served as Pacheco Elementary’s principal since then.

Principal's Message

Welcome to Pacheco Elementary School! Pacheco has been a dual-language (DLI) program  for the past 25 years and our focus is on developing the proficiency skills of our students in two  languages. Pacheco has built a reputation for maintaining a rigorous curriculum taught in both Spanish and English using a 90/10 model. Our team of dedicated educators, both certificated and classified, are passionate about preparing our students for the future as bilingual learners. Our school’s 497 students and our 45 dedicated staff members are proud to call Pacheco “home” because everyone truly feels a sense of belonging.

There are so many benefits that our students receive as a result of having this unique educational experience. In addition to building our students’ proficiency in two languages, our teaching staff is committed to building their cultural awareness and an overall appreciation for learning. Here at Pacheco, we’re also committed to providing opportunities for students to grow and expand their social-emotional needs. We offer students a broad range of activities and programs that further cultivate their desire to learn and respect for one another. Our teachers strive daily to develop connections with each and every student, while also fostering inclusivity.

Another important goal for us is in creating solid partnerships with our parents. It is no secret that a primary factor that makes a positive impact on students' success is when the school and the home work in unison. Our parents/guardians have made a true commitment, not only for their own children, but themselves. We offer many opportunities for parents to become involved in our school community. We’ve made it a priority to keep the communication lines open with the home through ongoing messages from our front office and from our classrooms.
